1994

Citadel Pharmaceuticals is founded in Cairo as an importer and distributor of specialty medicines, laying the foundation of what would become Citadel Group.

1998

The company opens its first distribution hub in Cairo, building the nationwide supply network that still serves pharmacies across Egypt today.

2003

Citadel’s first manufacturing plant begins production in the 10th of Ramadan City, marking the shift from distribution to full-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing.

2009

Citadel secures EU-GMP certification, opening the door to regulated export markets across Europe, Africa and the Gulf.

2014

The Citadel Research & Development Institute is established to lead formulation science, bioequivalence studies and generic drug development.

2016

A dedicated sterile injectables facility opens in the 6th of October City, expanding capacity into oncology and hospital-care products.

2019

Citadel Life Sciences is established in Frankfurt, Germany, serving as the group’s operations hub for European markets.

2021

Launch of “Vitalis Naturals,” Citadel’s global nutraceutical and food supplement brand.

2023

The Citadel Centre for Medical Services and Scientific Research is founded — an independent, integrative research centre advancing interdisciplinary disease research.

2025

The Citadel Biologics Facility comes online with a production capacity of 90 million vials and 50 million cartridges annually, serving patients across the region.
